Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • ½ cup cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 7 oz guava paste
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  • Mix cream cheese and sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Lightly dust your surface with flour. Gently roll out the puff pastry—don’t make it too thin.
  • Cut the pastry into equal pieces. You’ll need two pieces per pastry (top and bottom).
  • Pipe or spoon cream cheese on the bottom piece. Place 2–3 guava paste pieces on top.
  • Brush edges with egg wash, then place the top piece over. Press the sides to seal.
  • Cut 2–3 small slits on top of each pastry for air. Brush the tops with egg wash.
  • Chill in the fridge for 20–30 minutes for better puff.
  • Bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 20 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  • Let them cool for 5 minutes, then brush with simple syrup for a sweet shine.

Notes

If your puff pastry feels too soft while working, pop it in the fridge for a few minutes. Cold dough puffs better in the oven. Don’t skip the small slits on top they help the steam escape and make the pastry rise nicely. You can play around with the filling tootry strawberry jam or even chocolate chips with cream cheese for a fun twist!
